You’re the parent of a high school student – of course, you’re trying to balance all of the things AND including many of those things is prepping for your soon-to-be senior’s last year of high school! You’re touring colleges and saving up for all things senior year – one last year of sports/theater/band/chorus, homecoming, senior ball, senior night, standardized tests, senior trips, graduation, graduation parties, and of course – senior pictures.
Finding the perfect high school senior photographer can be overwhelming, but we’ve got you! We're here to guide you through the process and ensure you find a senior photographer who not only makes the experience fun for everyone, but who also captures the sides of your senior you always knew them to be and who they are becoming.

Here's what to look for:
What Look Are You Going For? Consider the aesthetic you envision for your senior pictures. Is there a specific “vibe” that appeals to both you and your senior? Do you prefer airy and light photos, vibrant colors that pop, or moody and dramatic shots? Search for “senior photographers in Rochester” or “senior pictures in Rochester” and look through their websites and/or Instagram. Do any of their styles appeal to you?
(As you can see, moody and cinematic is our whole vibe.)
How Do the Photos Make You Feel? For both you and your senior, you want to be able to look at these photos years from now and see the person that they were and who they were becoming. When you’re looking at a photographer’s work, how does it make you feel? Do you get the feeling that you’re seeing someone’s personality right in front of you?

What is their process like? Again, senior pictures are not just about pictures – these are moments that you both are going to cherish for a very long time. It’s an experience and you want to know that it’s going to be a worthy time. Now, of course, you won’t truly know until you get there, but is there anything in the information that they’ve shared that tells you what a photoshoot is like? What are the different steps? Is it clear as to what that senior picture experience is going to be?
How Do You Want to Remember This Moment? Long after they’ve graduated high school and you start to reminisce about how much they’ve grown, how do you want to remember this moment? Imagine walking through your home and seeing a photo of them when they were about to graduate. What are you imagining right now? Whether it's in a traditional album, framed on the wall, or shared on social media, what options are made available to you by the photographer?
Other Questions to Consider:
Location Options: Does the photographer offer multiple location options to suit your preferences?
Editing Process: Inquire about their editing process and see if it aligns with your vision for the final images. How much do they retouch an image (removing blemishes and hair flyaways)?
Shoot Duration: How long are the shoots typically? Know how long you’ll need to set aside for hair and makeup beforehand, the shoot, and looking at proofs afterwards.
Yearbook Photo Submission: Will the photographer submit the yearbook photo on your behalf?
